I Think It's Ridiculous How Chinese Guys Nowadays Are Super Self-Obsessive!

Hunky www.strictlygay.blogspot.com blogger sent me a link of this cute and hilarous youtube video that parodies the fact of life, where "Young Guys nowadays, be it straight or gay, are very self-conscious of their looks"!

p/s: The video is in Cantonese ( Well, the guy is from Hong Kong, my dear! ). So, i guess this post is only meaningful for those who understand the language. SO SORRY, my dear readers!

 The word "manscaping" was popularized by the wildly popular reality makeover show "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" ( I used to love watching the series as well back in 2003-2004 ) - This hilarious show has five gay men — specializing in fashion, cooking, interior decorating, culture and grooming — making over a straight man.

A survey from The Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, involving 226 heterosexual males & 106 homosexual males found that:

• Gay and straight men were almost equally likely to remove some or all pubic hair, about 60 per cent at least occasionally.

• But only one in 10 of these men was prepared to pay up to $75 to have the male equivalent of a Brazilian wax. Almost 9 out of 10 men who removed their pubic hair were shaving or clipping it themselves.

• Methods of hair removal: 

• 11.5 % of gay and straight men waxed; 
• 88.5 % of straight and 85% of gay men shaved; 
• 17.5 % of straight and 19.5 % of gay men used depilatory creams.
• 55 % of straight and 58 % of gay men waxed back and buttock hair.

• Reasons for removing hair: 
• 20 % of straight and 24 % of gay men said it improved their appearance; 
• 12 % of straight and 23 % of gay men said it looked cleaner/neater; 
• 10 % of straight and 14 % of gay men said it made their genitals look bigger.

• Male pubic hair removal began with pornography, because the removal of background hair made the penis look bigger ( reasoning mentioned by 14 % of gay men and 10 % of heterosexuals in the Flinders survey). But the practice had been "mainstreamed" into "normal" grooming and fashion. Male pubic hair removal was also an extension of men removing hair for sporting reasons, with cyclists and swimmers doing it for speed.

So, what are the METHODS of manscaping your pubic hairs?

A) TRIMMING

• Perhaps the most basic way involved in removing pubic hair is simply to trim it back. 
• 2 affordable options exist: scissors & electric trimmers. 
• Scissors are acceptable when used by skilled hands, but an electric trimmer is highly recommended for removing pubic hair. 
• Scissors, aside from being dangerous to wield around such a sensitive area, can result in an uneven, scraggly look that almost defeats the purpose unless you’re careful. 
• Be smart, use a trimmer.

      PROS

• Affordable option(s) exist that can be purchased/stored without any embarrassment.
• With a trimmer, you get a uniform, complementary length of pubic hair.
• Maintenance is relatively easy.

     CONS 

• Cleanup can be a mess since you need to trim your pubic hair while it’s dry.
• With scissors, you can end up with a choppy-looking bush that’s comical instead of alluring.
• Maintenance requires frequent upkeep and attention (every 12-14 days, depending).

B) SHAVING

• The razor is a very popular weapon of choice when removing pubic hair, and justifiably so. 
• For most guys, this grooming technique is familiar and a good solution. 
• When shaving away pubic hair, not only do you get a super-clean, hygienic look, but you also get to do it discretely in the shower, with tools already stocked in the medicine cabinet. 
• Thus, it’s a well-rounded option for a lot of guys.

      PROS 

• It's a simple, familiar process that doesn’t take too long.
• Leaves the skin around your penis and scrotum smooth and appealing to the touch.
• It can be done in the shower, so there's relatively little cleanup involved.

     CONS

• As you learned as a teenager: Once you start, you can’t stop.
• It can leave skin irritations such as razor burns, rashes and ingrown hairs.
• It requires continual upkeep (every two to three days) and can be itchy as it grows back.

C) DEPILATORIES

• Many well-known brands now have a men’s depilatory entry on the hair-remover market, and many guys are taking stock in this technique for removing pubic hair. 
• These creams, which dissolve hair so that it can be wiped away, are a mid-market option: 
• They cost a bit more than trimmers or razors, but lessen the amount of time involved in upkeep. 
• While they might be better for those areas around your goods, if you choose this option, be wise and test the product on the inside of your elbow first, then wait 48 hours to be sure your skin has no adverse reactions.

      PROS

• It's pain-free (ideally), easy to use and affordable.
• It lasts longer than shaving and isn't as cumbersome or painful as waxing.
• Hair grows back softer and less coarse than it does with shaving.

      CONS

• It's harsh and abrasive to the skin, so you have to time them perfectly.
• There's a possibility you may have an allergic, itchy reaction to the cream.
• Unpleasant smells can be a residual side-effect.

 D) WAXING

• Long thought of as a woman’s prerogative, waxing is making great strides in gender equality. 
• Men have caught on to the many benefits that waxing offers: smooth, longer-lasting results. 
• In fact, it’s the last stop before permanent hair removal, so it does have its advantages.

      PROS

• The results last two to four weeks, and continued waxing leads to diminished hair growth over time.
• Many waxing salons now cater specifically to men, providing expertise and discretion.
• Waxing can be done at home, which gives you more privacy and significant cost savings.

     CONS

• It's painful and expensive.
• Women dominate waxing salons; be ready to share your business (literally and figuratively) i.e, while the outcome will be equal to that of cheaper, gentler options.
• The skin on your testicles is very sensitive. Some waxing salons won’t agree to wax this area.

TIPS IN SHAVING YOUR GROIN:

  Firstly, you need to look at yourself in the mirror...Where, How and How Much do you want to shave....

1.  Buy a beard or hair trimmer and trim the pubic area to the desired length.
2. Take a hot shower. This will loosen the skin and make the hair easier to shave. 

 

A "Hot" shower indeed...

3. Lather the area with shaving cream intended for sensitive skin. Avoid menthol or heavily scented creams as they will irritate the area.

4. Using a new 3 or 4 bladed razor, shave each area using short very light strokes.

• Pulling the penis downward shave from the top of the penis upward to the navel.
• Most of the hair growing between the penis and the stomach grow downward. Holding the penis downward and in the opposite direction of the area you are going the shave, shave using upward motions.
• Holding the penis to the side, shave inwards in the sides of it and in the sides of the scrotum.
• Holding the penis upward, shave downwards carefully from the penis to the lower part of the scrotum.
• The scrotum is extremely easier to shave if the skin is extended. The scrotum should be shaved from the middle front part of it, to the sides, with extreme care.

5. Rinse off and wash area using mild soap. 

Remember to wipe yourself up ya!

6. If you do not shave often or this is your first time, use some antiseptic cream to counteract skin   irritations and pimples.

 Remember to clean up all your fallen pubic hairs ya! You wouldn't want your parents to find a thick bush stuck in the drain pipe!

7. If you use the edge of a toilet seat to sit on, letting your public area sit over a garbage can while shaving, the mess will be next to nothing to clean up.

Sorry guys for MIA yet again! Well, which company in Malaysia where you can get 30-days annual leave & also get to carry-forward the balance for the following year as well?! At the time of writing, i left about 35 days of annual leave while The Horny One has about 47 days left! That is why, there are always pros & cons working in the public or private sector, which you either love or loathe!

Back to business...Recently, i went to watch a wonderful award-winning Hong Kong film, Echoes Of The Rainbow ( 歲月神偷 ) with The Horny One at GSC, Midvalley on a lovely, quiet & peaceful weekday - It has been a few years ( Yup, a few years! ) since we've last watched a movie in Midvalley.Well, i think ALL OF US know how's the crowd like during weekends in Midvalley. We also make full use of our expire-less Student Card for the extra discount too!!!  Hehehe

The movie has won a lot of awards including

The film uses the sad but longing 1960s old Hong Kong as its backdrop. The story follows the travels of a small family - the father (Simon Yam), a shoemaker who makes new shoes everyday but yet always wears a pair of broken shoes, the optimistic and protective mother (Sandra Ng); the oldest son (Aarif Lee) - smart, athletic and optimistic about the future and love and the younger son (Chung Siu To) who is curious, can recite his alphabet backwards, and has the ability to make his parents laugh. As a family, they live in old Hong Kong marked by the East-West cultural mix and the rich and the poor co-existing together. The film follows how the family faces life's challenges, ups and downs, and the tears within laughter, and the laughter within tears. ( I have always like to watch a movie without knowing the storyline in the first place. The discovery that you get as the film played through, makes the film much more sweeter and memorable )

   Haha. I have never tried hurdles before. I will try to escape from it epecially during PJ sessions.

 

 

 Cute little Buzz Chung.

Do expect many "tears-defying" scenes throughout the show, especially the brotherly bond between Aarif Lee & the innocent-yet-cheeky looking, Buzz Chung. The film is indeed worthy enough to be watch in cinema.

Some of the philosophical quotes in the movie : "Echoes Of The Rainbow - Aarif Lee will explain that if we are lucky enough, we might get to see the reflection of a rainbow as well. No one has seen it before, but at least there is something for us to keep faith in & look forward to. Just like what The Horny One quoted " Have you seen the echoes of the rainbow? Even if not, it would be a great metaphor for empty promises, yet holding so much hope at stake."

 Well, i myself is the youngest child in my family. I have an elder brother who is currently residing across the Causeway. Me & My Bro doesn't talk much ( Haha..maybe due to the fact that i would prefer to talk less with my family members in order of not exposing my alter-ego, Simon Lover's persona? Hehehe ). During our youngers days, we would always argue on basically, every thing that is arguable - more often than not, it's usually related with food -

 Brotherly Love...

For example:  "How many fishballs that you ate?! - Each person can only eat three "biji"! So, when either one of us ate more than that ( Purposely or unknowingly - 'cuz before we proceed our food fest, we will usually count how many fishballs first - So, lying does not help over here! ), expect some fireworks on the dining table. And usually i'm the noisier one ( I have a voice that can shatter all the glass windows of Petronas Twin Towers when i scream - which, FYI, i'm not proud of,  at all ! ). And because of that, I'm usually the one who had to suffer the brunt of The Mum's canings - Her reason was " Those who made the most noise, automatically is the trouble-maker - regardless of who started the fight first!" Hence, you can see why i don't see eye-to-eye with The Bro, back then. Hahaha.
  
But of course, as the years goes by, all the hatred has turned into sweet childhood memories. And as usual, since i'm the youngest one, do expect some form of pamering from The Bro as well. Hehe. Buying a souvenir for me is always very easy. A "S" size T-Shirt will do just fine for me.

Finally, how can a post claimed to be Simon Lover's without the eye-candies trademark?!!!
